Artist Profile: Aparna Biswas
Aparna Biswas is an emerging visual artist whose journey in the world of art has been deeply shaped by both academic training and personal exploration. Aparna began her formal training at “Art Wing” School in Dibrugarh, where she was mentored by the esteemed artist Sri Sanat Baruah. Her quest for refinement led her to further studies in Fine Art under the guidance of Late Kanti Chowdhury at Nabagram, Konnagar, Hooghly—a phase that significantly enriched her visual language and philosophical approach to painting.
Her dedication and creativity were recognized when a review of her group exhibition was featured in “Desh”, the renowned Bengali literary magazine published by ABP. This was a significant milestone, marking her presence in the broader cultural discourse of Bengal.
Currently, Aparna continues her artistic practice from her home studio in Garia, Kolkata, where she delves into both traditional and experimental forms of expression.

The featured work “Engrossed” is a watercolor painting from Aparna’s student days, executed as a copy work during her learning period.
