Artist Profile: Aparna Biswas
Aparna Biswas is a dedicated contemporary artist whose journey through the visual arts is rooted in both academic discipline and deep personal exploration. Her artistic career has seen consistent engagement with the cultural scenes of Kolkata and Dibrugarh, participating in numerous group exhibitions that have earned her recognition and appreciation.
She began her artistic training at the “Art Wing” School in Dibrugarh under the able and inspiring mentorship of Sri Sanat Baruah, a respected figure in the local art community. Her early exposure to disciplined artistic practice laid a strong foundation for her evolving style. Seeking to expand her artistic language, she pursued further studies in fine art under the esteemed guidance of Late Kanti Chowdhury at Nabagram, Konnagar, Hooghly. Under his tutelage, Aparna refined her understanding of form, composition, and visual storytelling.
A major milestone in her journey was the publication of a review of her creative works in “Desh”, the iconic Bengali literary magazine published by ABP (Ananda Bazar Patrika). This critical acclaim has been a testament to the depth and originality of her work.
Now based in Garia, Kolkata, Aparna continues to work from her home studio, creating thought-provoking and emotionally resonant artworks that bridge abstraction and metaphor.
